HackPGH has always shied away from that.

1. Because of the number of tools we have
2. Because some people forget to return them.
3. Because of Liability.

We’ve talked about finding a way to loan a 3d printer out but we still haven’t figured out the solution yet.

At Melbourne Makerspace (Florida, USA) we have a similar, informal rule like Milwaukee Makerspace.
Ours is so informal I don't think we even wrote it down!
We will be stealing it and putting it on our wiki now!

At Kwartzlab we don't let non-members borrow stuff -- we're not a tool library.

Members can borrow equipment so long as it's not gone for too long and they give a heads up on the member's mailing list beforehand. It's typically small stuff like hand drills and what not. I don't think we would allow anyone to 'borrow' larger installed equipment like a laser cutter or CNC router.

Hey there,

We were wondering at Prishtina Hackerspace, what are your experiences with members and non-members asking to or borrowing equipment/stuff from your hackerspaces!?

How do you guys deal with it?

Any links that document your procedures? (If you have)

Thanks,
Altin
